Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), that is to say the adoption of a sustainable and responsible entrepreneurial practice, is an integral part of the corporate strategy and of the way Denholm Yam conceive the way of doing business. Operating in a responsible and sustainable manner is important to us. While we run our business in line with the expectations of diverse global stakeholders, we also see corporate responsibility as a discipline that helps us manage risks and maximize on the opportunities available to us in a changing world.

We are committed to understand, monitor and manage our social, environmental and economic impact to enable us to contribute to society’s wider goal of sustainable development. This commitment is deeply ingrained in our core values and we aim to demonstrate these responsibilities through our actions and within our corporate policies.

Denholm Yam is committed to protecting the health and safety of all individuals affected by our activities, including our employees, contractors and the public.  Denholm Yam will provide a safe and healthy working environment, and will not compromise the health and safety of any individual. Our goal is to have no accidents and mitigate impacts on the environment by working with our stakeholders, peers and others to promote responsible environmental practices and continuous improvement.

Denholm Yam recognizes that pollution prevention, biodiversity and resource conservation are key to a sustainable environment, and will effectively integrate these concepts into its business decision-making. All employees and contractors are responsible and accountable for contributing to a safe working environment, for fostering safe working attitudes, and for operating in an environmentally responsible manner.

Social Aspects

  • Respecting fundamental human rights of our employees, those in our value chain, and the communities in which we operate.
  • Avoid negative impacts on the living conditions, livelihoods, and land tenure of communities.
  • Prohibit forced labour and child labour, prohibit discrimination, prohibit, and combat sexual harassment and support the freedom of association as welfare committee, the right to collective bargaining of workers.
  • Ensure reasonable working conditions and terms of employment, Protection for migrant, contract or temporary workers, Clean and appropriate accommodations.
  • Non-discrimination in hiring, promotion and compensation practices, Training, tools, and opportunities for advancement
  • Transparent process for receiving and resolving worker and contracted workers and Community complaints.
  • Extension of labor policies to labor contractors, recruiting agencies and other third parties
  • Develop clear and open communication channels between Management, employees, third party suppliers and communities in which we operate.
  • Extension of policies and monitoring of supply chain with respect to child labor, forced labor and worker safety to supply chain.
  • Establish and promote best practices in our operations to ensure continual improvement of our social performance.
  • Ensure that anyone who works for and on behalf of us including among other employees, suppliers, service providers and contractors is responsible for demonstrating acceptable environmental behaviors and reporting potential environmental and social risks.
  • Responsible sourcing throughout our value chain, all of our suppliers are required to adhere to company values and sign up to our Suppliers ‘Code of Conduct’.
  • Giving the utmost respect to and positively engaging with the local communities in which we operate.
